Tips for creating a great design

  1. When starting your leavers clothing design think of your school colours as these can make a great backdrop for your design as the garment colour. Your peers will identify with the colour as a node to the school without making look like your school uniform.
  2. Then add the school logo as a front lapel or the school name across the top centre front or centre back. This provides the peer group identification which unifies your garment as unique to your school.
  3. Add your final year as either a 2 digit or 4 digit image. This identifies your year group as unique from any other years.
  4. Do your peers want their names to be listed on the garment for posterity. Only some designs allow for this. For small year group you can do first names or family names in the year numerals. But for larger year groups of 100 or more students we recommend the names being placed into a square shape or similar. The boundary of this shape can be formed by the names if your design does not suit an outline.
  5. The key to any great design is acceptance by your peers. After all they are the ones that will be ordering it, and wearing it for years to come. So when you have a rough concept together share it will a few other students to get their feedback.
